Waukesha County Community Foundation Hosts Giving Forward Breakfast
A celebration of the good works of the Waukesha County Community Foundation Wednesday morning at the Country Springs Hotel in Pewaukee.
Sixteen years ago, the Foundation was established to provide a continuum of support for our community.
The motto: “For Good, For Ever” truly defines its commitment today and to the future.
The foundation unveiled a new logo that better reflects the energy and spirit of the organization and its hope for future success and growth.
Waukesha County Community Foundation is a collection of nearly 300 charitable funds offering donors a sense of security when it comes to their money.
"We have a board of directors, finance committee, that steward all the dollars that go out to the community," explained Shelli Marquardt, Director of the Waukesha Co. Community Foundation. "So, they account for all the dollars that go out to the community."
The crowd was brought to a hush as Kari Stahl talked about the scholarship program she formed in memory of her daughter Holly who was killed in a crash on the way home from college. A semi had cut off the co-ed who had overcome challenges of her own to attend the University of Minnesota.
By allowing other young people to now earn that diploma and wear that cap and gown, is just one example of how the Waukesha community is giving forward.
"I see Holly in these students," Kari told CBS 58's Michele McCormack who served as Master of Ceremonies for the breakfast. "I see Holly in these students. And just them wanting to pursue their dreams like she did."
